Lola Divine - COVER ARTIST

Please welcome cover artist Lola Divine to the Brit Babes blog today. Lola recently designed the cover for Lily Harlem's new release, The Chase...

I’ve been an artist all my life. I’ve always loved drawing, coloring, sketching and making up stories to go along with the images. Been doing all four for as long as I can remember.

Looking back, I’ve noticed an obvious trend in my subject matter. I hadn’t realized it at the time, but the creative gene that drove me to, well… decorate sex, was training me for a future career.

 When I was a kid I concentrated on filling in the eyes, lips and hair of girls on coloring pages. My favorite Crayon? Black, because I could make the eyelashes thicker and the hair longer and wavier without the original lines showing through. Then as I matured I started sketching women mostly, big boobs, long locks and curvy curves. I hadn’t mastered the art of drawing the male figure yet, but that would come with practice and when it did the men and women would always be locked in passionate embraces.

In my twenties I discovered that the images I drew demanded voices. That’s when I added words to the pictures on the page and in my head. My first completed romance novel, one of many to come. The gorgeous heroines and sexy heroes I’d drawn, now had history, goals, motivations and conflict. Wrapped in a love story the characters finally had their say.

And a while back, those characters and stories evolved. They moved from paper and pencil onto a computer screen. I discovered the glory of Photoshop, the joy of collecting stock images and the ecstasy of merging both together, hot and steamy.

I’m a cover designer. And I LOVE my job. It’s like Christmas every day. I take a package wrapped in a bow, rip it open and find something totally new inside (after a shit load of light effects, color manipulation, adjustment layers and photo filters have been lovingly applied)

A picture is worth a thousand words, which is very true. Also very true? A novel, no matter what the genre, will sell off the shelf when the cover is dynamic, when those thousand words are all shouting at once, “Buy me! I’m as awesome inside as I am out!”

So come to me when you’re in need of an image that will be worthy of your hard work. You pour your soul into your words…let me pour my heart into your cover.

Please visit me at loladivinedesign.vpweb.com today. I’ll get that cover underway.

Best wishes and many, many sales to you!

Love, Lola

Guest Post - Rubens Rebels from Alternative Fashion Fest.

Just before Christmas I was lucky enough to experience a fashion show with a difference that really inspired me. Alternative Fashion Fest embraces the unique beauty in everyone and I was blown away by the positivity and love I experienced at the event. Read all about my experience at Alternative Fashion Fest at victoriablisse.co.uk

Today, I'm introducing you to an amazing Positive Body Image Project which will take your breath away. Here I happily hand over to Jane Bellis, the creative force behind altfashionfest.co.uk

Rubens Rebels

Positive Body Image Shoot

Alternative Fashion Fest is a project aimed at creating social change through the highly accessible fashion & music industry.

With shows touring the UK involving designers, dancers, performers and musicians and a whole mixed bag of models from alternative to mainstream, plus size to disabled and everything in between, we’re representing real people from all walks of life and celebrating our unique and beautiful differences.

In our latest part of the project we are focussing on positive body image and self esteem, inspired by Baroque painter Peter Paul Rubens. Rubens painted what he actually saw, reality rather than an enhancement of the truth, and for this he was shunned by his fellow artists.

Our photographer, Mansy wanted to show that not all art is a lie, not all images of beauty need to involve one style and be heavily edited, there is beauty in everyone regardless of size, shape, colour, age or lifestyle choice.

Alternative Fashion Fest aims to challenge beauty standards and represent a beautifully diverse mixture of people from all walks of life. In this image we see women aged between 23 and 43, sizes 8 – 22 from different backgrounds and with different lives. They are mothers, daughters, sisters, wives and girlfriends and have chosen to be brave and come together to create this stunning image, to try and inspire others out there to see the beauty in everyone and show themselves a little kindness and self love,

The response so far has been overwhelming, from the social media frenzy to hugs and hi 5’s on the school run and husbands & partners proudly showing off their ladies bravery and beauty.
We plan to create a series of these images during 2016 and compile a large scale landscape full of the wonderful, strong, and beautiful ladies who take part.

What’s next? We want to focus on the boys and taboo issues relating to all the men out there. We will also be looking at social inclusion, mental health, bullying and gender fluidity in our campaign for social change so watch this space!

Fun Stuff!

Post by Lily Harlem

It's funny how stories come about, in fact each story has it's own story to tell. Whether it's that moment of inspiration, the struggle to get on with feisty characters, or just a plot that is taking a lot of effort to tie up.

One of the most fun ways I've written a story happened in the Autumn of last year. Any of you that know me, know that I spend far too much time messing about on Facebook when I should be writing! I know, I can't help it, so easily distracted! Well on one of these occasions I was having fun with three fellow authors, Sarah Masters (fellow Brit Babe), Lavinia Lewis and Jambrea Jo Jones.

We were at a virtual party, I suspect all in our pyjamas - well maybe not Jambrea, she's in the US so it was middle of the day for her - and drinking wine. We started having a giggle about shifters and all the strange animal combinations that could happen if DNA was spliced! For example if a gorilla was crossed with a pug, or a kangaroo or even a shark!

"We should write it!" Jambrea shouted.
"It's nuts," Sarah replied. "But bloody brilliant."
"Oh my God, yes," Lavinia responded.
"Let me at it!" I cried.
And so SPLICED was born, from a silly conversation about muddled up animals we created four seriously hot shifters who are all struggling to accept themselves and on the hunt for their mates.

But our spliced shifters have a more pressing problem, because of their uniquness for years they've been kept in a compound, experimented on and studied. We decided therefore to start their stories at the  moment of escape. They're all wild, scared, looking for love and acceptance as they roam the dark and cold Yorkshire moors.

Here is the official back cover information

When scientists mess with the most primitive elements of a man’s core, the results are bound to be explosive.

Living a loveless existence is hard for any shifter, but having DNA spliced with creatures who stand out from the crowd is damn near impossible. Which is why four experimented-on souls decide to break free from the chains that hold them, climb the fences that circle them, and go in search of adventure, passion and most of all, their mates.

But nothing worth having is ever easy, and for Sharkorilla, Pugorilla, Kangorilla and Elephorilla, this is definitely the case. They’ve come to the end of one very long, hard and frustrating road, but now, with the help of men who have big hearts, they must shed their fears, accept their bodies, and be true to the desires that burn within them. The only problem is, will they get away with it?

Please note, Spliced can be enjoyed as individual stories, but reading in order enhances the pleasure as you get to see the progression of the shifter's sexy adventures.

I hope you'll check out Spliced, it's fun and sexy and definitely a bit different to any other shifter story out there. You can find out all the details on the Spliced website.

Thanks for reading

Lily x

Kangorilla – Joey has it tough. Not only has he been spliced with a kangaroo and a gorilla, he’s also been brought to the other side of the world.

Feeling exploited, desperate and wishing he had love, companionship and acceptance, he takes the risk of leaving the compound in the search of happiness.

But will he find it? Or has the person he’s drawn to got other ideas? It certainly seems that way as the temperature goes from boiling hot to downright frosty.

17 brand new haiku, 289 filth-laden syllables to get your blood pumping, juices flowing and, possibly, your fingers a workout...

A warm wet circle
Surrounding me with softness
Holding me tightly

~~~~~
Time has no meaning
When I am lost inside you
Two bodies as one
~~~~~

The sweet taste of you
Lingers long after we part
Joyous memories

~~~~~
Lips surrounding me
You encircle my hardness
Taking me deeper
~~~~~

Your body, my goal
Your orgasm, my pleasure
Your moans, my reward

~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~
Passionate fusion
A sexual collision
Orgasmic release
~~~~~

Warm, wet, inviting
Your softness slowly yielding
As I push inside

~~~~~
My tongue exploring
Every fold of your cunt
Tasting your sweetness
~~~~~

The joyous union
Of cunt, cock, body and mind
The sweet synergy

~~~~~
Your soft, gentle moans
The subtle change of flavour
Announce your climax
~~~~~

The crack of leather
Red marks left on soft white skin
The kiss of my belt

~~~~~
You beg me to cum
To release deep inside you
To share my moment
~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~

The rope bites your skin
As you struggle to resist
The leather's caress

~~~~~
I savour your taste
Your sweet juices on my tongue
Filling my senses
~~~~~

The look on your face
As you take me inside you
Joyous abandon

~~~~~
Moving together
Our climaxes combining
Sexual resonance
~~~~~

One final, deep thrust
As I release inside you
And you moan my name
