Special Guest - Ariel Storm

The Appeal of the Everyday Hero

Thank you so much for having me as a guest today on the Brit Babes’ blog! I’m so happy to be here, discussing two things I adore: erotic romance novels and the sexy heroes who come to life within their pages.

As a long-time reader and writer of romance, I have to say I enjoy every type of alpha hero, the rich and powerful alpha, the brave alpha, the cocky alpha, and even, the beta-alpha.

While I can find escape reading about the various kinds of alphas, I tend to prefer one type of alpha in my own writing, and that’s the “everyday” kind of hero. In a time when billionaire heroes dominate (no pun intended) the erotic romance scene, I’ve felt myself shy away from writing about those kinds of characters. Why?

It’s not that I don’t love the concept. Christian and Gideon are two of my favorite book boyfriends. It’s not that I don’t see the appeal. Writing an uber-rich man is incredibly appealing, just look at the popularity of those novels.

It can be tempting as an author to try to create something that is popular at the moment. And that’s not to say the moneyed man hero is a fad. Far from it.

I think stories about wealthy men will endure. They’re the ultimate fantasy and have been around in some form or another for as long as I can recall. The 80s and 90s TV shows such as Dallas and Beverly Hills, 90210 offered a glimpse into the drama-filled world of handsome, rich men and the women they loved. In the book world, Jackie Collins’ novels have often times shown us all that glitters isn’t gold in the perceived fabulous lifestyles of fictitious celebrities.

As much as I adore them, try as I might, I’ve just never been able to come up with a rich hero. It seems I crave a different kind of man. Don’t get me wrong. Power, wealth, and luxury are a heady mix. But to me, there’s something undeniably sexy about a physically capable man, a hard working man. A blue-collar man, if you will.

Mechanics, firefighters, policemen, handymen, and, even delivery men are sexy in the simple fact that we’ve probably all known someone like them. The blue collar hero is attainable and approachable, but that doesn’t mean they’re any less desirable. At least, not in my opinion.

In my current release, Special Delivery, there’s intense, instant sexual chemistry when a boudoir photographer and a smokin’ hot delivery man meet at a charity calendar photo shoot. He’s posing wearing nothing but a strategically placed package and a smile. She finds him irresistible and well, readers can probably imagine what happens next. ;)

Special Delivery Back Cover Information

Who says good things come in small packages? Corina believes beauty isn’t about size—it’s about attitude—and Zach can’t get enough of her confidence or her curves.

Curvy and proud of it, photographer Corina Saunders seeks to empower other females by shooting boudoir photos of plus-sized women in her home studio. When a charity needs a photographer to photograph twelve sexy men for a hunk-of-the-month calendar, she gladly volunteers her services. Sparks fly during the photo shoot when she snaps pictures of sexy delivery man Zach Moreno’s strategically placed package. When they cross paths again at a charity ball and bachelor auction, Corina surprises everyone—including herself—by placing the highest bid on Zach, the sexiest bachelor up for grabs.

Thanks to the frenzied atmosphere of the auction—and the complimentary champagne—she’s helpless to fight the insane chemistry between her and Zach any longer and the two celebrate her winning bid. With a bang.

Afterwards, Corina’s mortified that she had sex with Zach in a cramped supply room at the bachelor auction. How can she face him again? Then again, after bidding an incredible six-thousand dollars to win him at the auction, she can’t afford to skip out on the date. Besides, the sex was unbelievably hot, and she really shouldn’t deprive herself that one indulgence. After all, what harm could come from one innocent picnic in the park lunch date?

Special Delivery is available for just .99 cents at All Romance ebooks, Amazon, Amazon CA, Amazon UK, Kobo and Nook.
